Next, turn to page 574 and read about Ezra Pound. Now, compare these two brief poems.

“In a station of the Metro”

The apparition of these faces in the crowd;

Petals on a wet, black bough.

The seed moon empties the stars:

Salt on a wet black table.

Turn to Pound’s poem on page 576, which we will discuss, entitled,

“The River Merchant’s Wife.

Next, read and be prepared to discuss Pounds “Rules,” on page 579.

Finally, if there is time, read and be prepared to discuss pages 571-573
